We made this adorable Mickey Mouse topiary centerpiece for our #DisneySide Baby Shower. It was super simple to put together.
Mickey Mouse Topiary Supplies
- small bucket or pot
- artificial flowers (I used about eight 3″ flowers in my topiary)
- pinwheels (if not available, feel free to skip)
- spray paint (for Mickey’s head)
- one 4″ smooth styrofoam ball
- two 3″ smooth styrofoam balls
- styrofoam to place inside bucket
- craft dowel
- glue dots
Step 1: Spray paint
Spray paint the dowel and the 4″ and two 3″ smooth styrofoam balls. These will be used to make the Mickey Mouse head. It may take several coats to paint the styrofoam balls.
Step 2: Prepare the bucket or pot
Use glue dots to adhere a ball or block of styrofoam to the bottom of your bucket or pot.
Step 3: Put flowers in the bucket
Trim the flower stems down to about 4″ long. Poke the stems into the styrofoam and arrange the flowers around the rim of the bucket.
Step 4: Fill in bucket with flowers
Fill in the middle of the bucket with flowers so you can no longer see the styrofoam.
Step 5: Add pinwheels
Add pinwheels to the bucket.
Step 6: Gather supplies for Mickey Mouse
To assemble the Mickey Mouse, you will need the spray-pained styrofoam balls, the spray-painted dowel, toothpicks, and large glue dots.
Step 7: Assemble Mickey Mouse
Poke the dowel into the large styrofoam ball. There was already a hole in the ball, so I just poked the dowel in there. The two smaller styrofoam balls will be Mickey’s ears. Push a toothpick halfway into the bottom of the styrofoam ball.
Carefully attach the ears to the large styrofoam ball by gently inserting the exposed toothpick. Be careful. If you push too hard the toothpick will break. It may help to twist the ear while pushing it in. If the ears don’t feel secure, use glue dots in addition to the toothpicks.
Step 8: Add Mickey to the bucket
Now that Mickey is complete, poke him straight down into the middle of the floral arrangement.
Step 9: Add a bow
Use the ribbon to tie a bow around the dowel right under the Mickey head.
Now you have an adorable centerpiece for your next Disney party.
