The Scary Side of Disney World
Disney World is the Happiest Place on Earth, please keep it that way by following this one simple tip:
Please, please, please DO NOT LIE to your children in order to get them on a scary ride.
True Story: I once worked with a friend to plan her family’s once in a lifetime Disney World vacation. She worked so hard on her vacations plans and couldn’t wait for her two young girls to experience the Happiest Place on Earth.
The first stop on their trip was Magic Kingdom. After enjoying the rides in Fantasyland, they headed on to Tomorrowland.
Dad REALLY wanted to go on Space Mountain, so he told the family:
Space Mountain is just like Winnie the Pooh or Peter Pan!
The girls were terrified during the entire ride (it is a roller coaster in the dark in case you are unfamiliar). After that the girls wouldn’t go on any ride that they couldn’t see ahead of time with their own eyes.
If you have ANY doubts about how your child will react to a ride, we recommend that Mom ride first and decide if it is appropriate. In the Theme Parks section of our site we list all of the Disney World rides with descriptions and warnings based on our experience with young children.
