That’s right. Mama needs braces – Invisalign for adults. I made it through my childhood with straight teeth and no orthodonture. But here I am, almost 50-years-old, and I need braces. Thankfully, I am blessed with the best orthodontist ever. And thankfully, I am eligible for Invisalign.
Full disclosure – Invisalign has comped the cost of my treatment. That means I am not paying my husband’s hard-earned money to fix my teeth. Instead, I will be sharing my experience with you. So get comfortable. I will be wearing these for about two years.
how does an adult figure out they need braces?
A chip chipped my tooth. I bit into a tortilla chip, and a sliver chipped off the back of one of my bottom front teeth.
So I took a close look at my teeth.
Then I got paranoid.
Have my teeth always been that jagged? Has there always been a little “v” between my bottom front teeth? My top front teeth and bottom front teeth don’t line up – has it always been that way? How long have I been shifting my jaw to the side? Is this why I have neck pain every night?
At my daughter’s next visit to the orthodontist, I made myself an appointment.
mama needs braces
My paranoia was justified.
My jaw has shifted. The bottom is jutting forward, and the top is shifting to one side. The result is that I’m scraping my top and bottom front teeth against each other and wearing them down.
Well, at least that is my interpretation of what the orthodontist said.
The solution? Mama needs braces.
invisalign to the rescue
Thankfully, I am eligible for Invisalign. Instead of traditional braces that would make me look like this.
Instead I will get to wear the Invisalign clear aligners that you can’t even see.
So grab a seat and get comfortable. Over the next two years-ish, I will share my story of Invisalign for adults.
Have you had braces as an adult? What was it like?
